What I collect

Four things, all from you, all needed to send the brief:

• Your email, so I have somewhere to send it.
• Your role, so the framing fits your job.
• The categories and sources you turn on, so the brief stays yours.
• If you unsubscribe, the reason you pick, so I learn what went wrong.

That is the whole list of what is tied to you. No payment data, because the brief is free.

What I do not track in the brief

I do not track if you open the brief. I do not track which links you click inside it. Most newsletters do both. I chose not to, so there is nothing to leak and nothing to sell. The brief lands in your inbox and what you do with it is your business.

On the website

The site itself uses Microsoft Clarity to see how the pages get used: where people scroll, what they click, where they get stuck. I do not hand it your email or name, so the heatmaps and session replays are anonymous to it, and it masks the text on the page by default, so it records the shape of a visit and not your words. It runs on the site only, never in the brief. I use it to find the confusing parts and fix them.

The site also uses Mixpanel, to see where people get stuck on the way in and whether the brief is worth staying for. That is the whole reason it is here. It runs by default, so I am telling you here rather than making you dismiss a banner. It does not get your email, your name, or your IP address.

What it does get is what you clicked on this site, how far into signing up you got, what broke on you when it broke, which of the two roles you picked, and how many topics you chose. Not which topics. It also records that I sent you a brief, and the reason you gave if you ever unsubscribe. The data is stored in Mixpanel servers in the EU.

There is nothing in the email itself. No pixel, no rewritten links, nothing that reports back. What is recorded is that I sent it, on my side, the same way a postal worker knows they posted a letter. Whether you opened it and what you clicked stay unknown to me, because I never collect them at all.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, Mixpanel is off for you and nothing about your visit reaches it. The account records still count, because those are notes about what I did, not about what you did. I am working on a proper switch on this page so the choice does not depend on a browser setting.

What I use it for

One thing: sending you the weekly brief. I do not sell your data. I do not rent it. I do not share it with advertisers. There is no advertiser. It is one person sending one email a week.

How to delete it

Go to settings and delete your account. That stops the brief and removes your preferences. Want a full wipe instead of a soft delete, or have a question I did not answer here. Email me at hello@minlum.com and I will handle it by hand.
